As part of its commitment to build soccer in the community, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Soccer Hall of Fame sponsors a pre-season high school tournament for both boys and girls teams. To honor the memory of long-time, dedicated Hall of Fame member Tom Crozier, the tournament is known as “The Tom Crozier High School Tournament.” This annual tournament showcases some of the best boys and girls high school teams in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
The this tournament took place on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the Parkwood Soccer Complex in Northeast Philadelphia. This tournament is designed to give boys and girls’ high school teams the opportunity to play some competitive, pre-season matches in a tournament setting. Girl’s teams included: Philadelphia Academy Charter, St. Basil Academy, Franklin Towne and Camden Catholic. The boys’ tournament consisted of Bensalem, George Washington, Roman Catholic and Hatboro-Horsham. Winners were honored after three well played round-robin games for each team. The boys’ winner was Roman Catholic High School while the girls’ champion was St. Basil Academy. Each winning team received the Hall of Fame Tournament Crystal Trophy. But the day was not about winning; rather it was for the players to kick off their season with a positive experience. All players were given commemorative tournament shirts and were also provided lunch. The Hall of Fame intends to continue this yearly tradition in Tom Crozier’s honor each August.
