As part of its commitment to build soccer in the community, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Soccer Hall of Fame sponsors a pre-season high school tournament for both boys and girls teams. To honor the memory of long-time, dedicated Hall of Fame member Tom Crozier, the tournament is known as “The Tom Crozier High School Tournament.” This annual tournament showcases some of the best boys and girls high school teams in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
This year’s tournament took place on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the Parkwood Soccer Complex in Northeast Philadelphia. This tournament is designed to give boys and girls’ high school teams the opportunity to play some competitive, pre-season matches in a tournament setting. Girl’s teams included: Springside Chestnut Hill, Bishop McDevitt, Franklin Towne Charter and Hallahan Catholic. The boys’ tournament consisted of Bensalem, Roman Catholic Varsity, Roman Catholic JV and Hatboro-Horsham. Winners were honored after three well played round-robin games for each team. The boys’ winner was Roman Catholic High School Varsity while the girls’ champion was Springside Chestnut Hill. Each winning team received the Hall of Fame Tournament championship plaque. But the day was not about winning; rather it was for the players to kick off their season with a positive experience. All players were given commemorative tournament shirts and were also provided snacks and drinks. The Hall of Fame intends to continue this yearly tradition in Tom Crozier’s honor each August.
